Methodologies

An active learning methodology is an approach to learning that is participatory and provides the means for facilitating relevant discussion and learning about an issue. It is learner centred and invites children and young people to take a more active role in the process of learning. The teacher or youth worker is more a facilitator of what is being learned. The young people learn by actively engaging in an activity and is encouraged to reflect on what has been learned during the process.

Relevant active methodologies for work on CRED issues are those methodologies that are demanding insofar as they involve both facilitator and learners in the exploration of controversial issues in a frank and sensitive way.
